Due to the wet and windy conditions at the site, we worked in a specially customised shipping container instead of fusion tents, which would have leaked or blown away.

The container had been modified to allow us to use 2 x 250mm Butt Fusion machines or 1 x 630mm Butt Fusion machine and was equipped with strip lights running from a generator. The Box was water-tight, which eliminated mud and other contaminants.

Working for Anglian Water/Morrison Utilities, we laid a 280mm trunk main from Great Saling Water Tower to Rayne using a variety of methods: Trenching, Directional Drilling and Open Cut through fields and along a carriageway. Part of the route passed through an area which was classed as a conservation area due to the presence of Great Crested Newts and badger setts.
